Leg Act News Highlights

Artificial Intelligence

In the third segment of his series on AI and data centers, Mark J. Norton discusses AI ethics and knowledge sources.

  • AI models are trained on public domain data, raising copyright concerns.

  • Original works remain protected; using them without permission is unethical.

  • Fair use allows inspired creation, but copying specific content infringes copyright.

  • Lawsuits involve companies such as Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic.

  • Ethical AI development should avoid replicating works and promote fair data use.

We need volunteers for upcoming events and voter outreach! Contact

TIOGANYDEMS@GMAIL.COM if you are interested in helping out. Campaign activities include writing postcards and letters, and engaging with local events.

  • Aaron Gies will open a campaign headquarters on July 14 in Olean, NY; volunteers needed!

  • Andy Fagan will attend the July 18 Berkshire Book and Blueberry Fest and July 25 Newark Valley Summerfest. Come out to meet Andy and talk about what is important to you!

Political Discourse and Society

  • Trump and Langworthy labeled Democrats as “communists,” echoing McCarthy-era tactics.

  • Democratic socialism advocates government control of key sectors for public benefit, not communism.

  • Discussions about socialism are often sensationalized to influence votes.

  • Unity among Democrats is vital; disagreements on issues like foreign policy exist but do not define the party.

  • Emphasis on protecting democracy through informed debate and civic engagement.

Action Alerts/Events:

  • Health Care Act Presentation July 15, 2026, 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Waverly High School Auditorium, 1 Frederick St., Waverly. Hear about the bill that will give us universal health care and lower costs.

  • Make a campaign activity plan. For example, spend July and August writing postcards and letters to the editor. Continue to call Congressman Langworthy with concerns and complaints about his decisions. For information about letters to the editor and postcards, email Marita at FNPMAF1@gmail.com.

  • If you are interested in helping the Aaron Gies Campaign set up an office in Tioga County, please contact TIOGANYDEMS@GMAIL.COM

  • July events. Save the Date for the Berkshire Book and Blueberry Fest on July 18 and the Newark Valley Summerfest on July 25. Volunteers Needed!
