Women’s Rights - Reflection by Mark J. Norton

Concerns About Troops at the Polls - by James C.E. Wahls

Some federal officials have suggested deploying National Guard or ICE agents to polling places. Wahls reassures voters:

Federal law prohibits troops at polling sites (18 U.S.C. §§ 592–594).
Any such deployment would be illegal and extremely unlikely.
Rhetoric about troops is political noise meant to create fear.

Voters are urged to:

Vote early (dates listed below).
Return mail‑in ballots promptly.
Request a provisional ballot if told they’re not registered.

If unauthorized individuals appear at a poll site:

Poll workers notify the County BOE, which escalates to the State BOE and Attorney General.
Police or sheriff may also be contacted.

Call 10 people about their voting plan.
Check voter registration.
Plan for early voting (starts Oct 24).
Prepare for canvassing (Minivan training available soon).
