No Kings 3
The No Kings 3 Rally will take place in Owego on Saturday, March 28, 1-3 pm at the Tioga County Courthouse Square. Please help our organizers plan by registering for the event.
Attendees are invited to march at 12:30 pm from Ahwaga Park, traveling down Front Street to the Court Street Bridge and arriving at the rally point in the square by 1 pm.
Parking is available in the Tioga County lot on Park Street, and handicap-accessible parking is available in that lot and in the Court Street lot.
There are many reasons to protest the actions, inactions, and beliefs of this administration, and it can all be lumped under the unified executive theory, which states that all executive power rests with one person, i.e., a president who can act like a king.
You've probably been asked, "Do protests really work?" and maybe you've wondered that yourself at times. You may have heard of the 3.5% rule, which states that "if 3.5% of a population turns out to rally, a regime will fail."
That's part of the rule, but the rest is that the 3.5% of the population rallying needs to maintain sustained involvement for a year or two. The rationale behind repetitive nationwide rallies is that they build momentum, helping each rally grow larger than the last, and getting 3.5% out to a rally.
The next 12 to 36 months are crucial times that will decide whether America remains a functional democracy or continues backsliding into an autocracy run by billionaires. Your involvement in a rally and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) effort for 2026 and 2028 is needed.
Join your neighbors as we listen to inspiring speakers, musicians performing works by Jesse Wells, Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Bruce Springsteen, protest chants, and expressions of solidarity.
The Broome/Tioga League of Women Voters, Tioga County Democratic Committee, and Concerned Residents of Tioga County will have tables set up with information about their organizations and how to join.
